Overpackaged #1 in a series

I'm a sucker for buying overpackaged stuff because it somehow makes it look nicely presented. I am going to have to fight this one if I want to try and cut down on the insane amount of stuff I have to send to be recycled.

Mr Ruby loves pitta bread and brought these home from Tesco today. Yes, the plastic container here is recyclable, but surely there is no need for it to exist in the first place?

It's a pitty about the pitta (packaged).. :)

I wasn't sure where to post this, but now that Ruby is doing a rubbish blog - sorry, that is just how it came out :) I thought doing it here would be good..

Anyway, it's about the fact that we have to pay our councils to collect our rubbish that we've sorted, and Must put into the correct bins, but Factories seem to be able to get away scot free!

So much plastic and paper just sitting in scips waiting to be buried in the ladfills.

I'm trying to get my boss to get facilities so that all the employees can do their bit, but he was not interested, and or confused.

I'm sure the time will come when they will Have to take action.

Hiya Pog, LOL, no offence taken at the mention of my rubbish blog!! That is what it is!!

I don't know anything about factories and rubbish collection, but if they can just send huge quantities of recyclable stuff to landfill, they shouldn't be allowed to do it. That's quite shocking.

Good for you, for trying to get your boss to recyle, but shame about his attitude.

I'm pretty certain the mini pittas at Sainsbury's have less packaging than that... Another good reason for not shopping at Tesco ;-)
Good luck with the rubbish reduction - thanks to Almost Mrs Average, I have rethought so much of my rubbish and am slowly changing some habits.

Hi Cybele, yes, Almost Mrs A is brilliant, and her rubbish diet very thought provoking. I am also making my changes gradually but even so, it's amazing what a difference is being made to my rubbish output! Thanks for popping over :-)

hello, nice new site.
I am going to purchase some stackable recycling boxes for the utility room so I can see what I have got. Tetra paks, bottles, batteries etc. These ones look Basil proof so I will post a picture when I get them!

Hiya Picklesmum, thanks for popping over! Will be interested to see your stackable boxes. Our utility room is a bit of a heap of things to recycle at the moment! No excuse for it though, it's almost just as far to the bin outside as it is to the utility room as I only have a small garden!!

I've started washing my tin foil to recycle because of you!
Anymore tips like this will be gratefully received!
Do you know whether you can recycle the outer packaging of multi bag crisp packets? Picklesgrandma and I aren't sure.
I know crisps are evil and I should be baking my own, but that's never going to happen!
